Carrying Out Your GAME Plan

In last week’s blog post, I developed GAME (Goal, Action, Monitor, and Evaluate) plans to support me in developing proficiency in several areas of the NETS-T. This week, I am continuing the process by identifying resources that are needed, any additional information that is needed, and steps that I have already planned to take toward reaching my goals.

Goal #1 -- Learn more about how to integrate student response systems into instruction and guided practice.

Resources Needed: Colleagues, Internet
Additional Information Needed: Different types of student response systems (‘clickers’) that interface with SMART Boards
Steps: Plan to discuss different types with colleagues from other schools and districts at a regional technology meeting this Friday

Goal #2 -- To design and develop an authentic assessment for my Algebra course that provides students multiple options to use technology to demonstrate learning.

Resources Needed: Teaching Partner, Internet
Additional Information Needed: Examples of project-based learning that cover Algebra concepts
Steps: Plan to discuss with my department members at a team meeting on February 3rd

Goal #3 -- To provide a tool to support my colleagues and me in teaching our students about digital citizenship and responsibility.

Resources Needed:
Previous Walden course work, Internet, District Staff
Additional Information Needed: Sample lesson plans on digital citizenship and responsibility
Steps: I have not progressed on this goal yet. My hope is to have time this summer to create lessons that staff members could use in the fall 2011.

  1. Anna,
You will be using smart board to integrate technology in the classroom and carry out the game plan. Also collaborating with other teachers to discuss and get additional support from the team. I always believe in team work. With team work all the students from the particular year group benefit. We all teachers teaching a particular year group need to be on the same page, discussing the teaching methodologies and making students learn with interest

  2. Anna,
You seem to have a hold on the steps you need to take to accomplish the goals of your GAME plan. I noticed that you wanted to integrate more accessories for a Smartboard in your classroom. Does your classroom or all classrooms in you school have a Smartboard? My district just installed Smartboards into all core course teacher's rooms. They have stated a more intrigued student that can interact more fluently. I hope that next, us special education classrooms will also receive Smartboards. One can wish, huh? I believe if you continue to communicate with your colleagues and enhance your own learning then all of your goals will be achieved.

  3. Ty,

My school has 9 SMARTboards installed and one on wheels. The current SMARTboards are installed in 3 math rooms, 1 science room, the band room, 3 social studies rooms and 1 Spanish room. My principal supports buying technology for teachers who show a willingness to use it. The SMARTboard on wheels is great for exposing other teachers to the technology and spread the excitement to teach with and use technology to support student learning.

Wish you luck on your quest to obtain a SMARTboard. They are a wonderful tool.

    Anna
